My name is Mia Dorman and I am a Therapist/ Licensed Clinical Social Worker who believes that if you do the work on yourself you can build the resiliency to live the life that you desire. I am licensed in Delaware Pennsylvania and Maryland. My philosophy is that I live to RESTORE HOPE in people especially my clients. The word HOPE is filled with having the expectation of finding out what you want out of life or of bringing back what has inspired you to achieve your goals in the past. In life, people can deal with many experiences that can make life difficult. I would like to help you learn how to cope with the ups and downs of life. Through the use of my knowledge and training, I specialize in helping clients overcome depression, seasonal issues, bipolar disorder and anxiety/social anxiety, I have the tools to work with those clients who are experiencing grief and loss. I do not have the expertise to work with clients who have ADHD and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. I focus on doing therapy through telehealth. I work with clients who are 18 years and above. I have worked in inpatient and outpatient settings. I have worked at schools, hospitals, small agencies and large agencies. I have been in the field for over 20 years and I love working with clients.
More than a decade into this work, I've sat with a lot of different kinds of pain — anxiety that doesn't quiet down, grief that doesn't follow a schedule, depression that dulls everything, and the particular exhaustion of being a woman navigating a world that asks a great deal of you. I became a therapist because I believe you shouldn't have to white-knuckle your way through hard seasons alone. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker trained at the University of Pittsburgh, and I work with adults, teens, and seniors across Pennsylvania via telehealth. I'm direct, I'm warm, and I take this work seriously.
I encounter clients where they are. As we build a relationship, we explore coping skills. I believe that small progress is still progress.
